PE

PE at Blue Coat has the following aims:       

To achieve ‘Personal Best’
To promote health and well being.
To develop creativity.
To engage in an active lifestyle.

 

In years 7 and 9 pupils have 4 x 60 minute lessons per fortnight.

In years 8, 10 and 11 pupils have 3 x 60 minute lessons per fortnight.

GCSE PE is an option at KS4 and ‘AS’, ‘A2’ and BTEC national Diploma at KS5. GCSE PE results have been the best in the city and Post 16 results are also very good.

Pupils in Key stages 3 & 4 have the opportunity to take part in a number of physical activities during curricular and extra curricular time. These include netball, hockey, cross country, basketball, athletics, cricket, rounders, tennis, badminton, rugby, football, gymnastics, dance and softball.

At Blue Coat our facilities include a Sports Hall, Gymnasium, A floodlit Astro-turf pitch, 6 tennis courts and extensive playing fields. The Sports Hall, Gym and Astroturf pitch are used in the evenings by various sports associations.

The Department encourages pupils to join local sports clubs. We are fortunate to have links with:
